Well, here it is. I'm really excited about the announcement of Gen 6 and I love the five Pokemon revealed so far. I'm probably gonna pick Fennekin as my starter. How about you guys? Anyway, this is probably my favorite Arvalis- inspired piece I've done, and the one that took me the longest to complete. Xerneas' antlers were nearly the death of me lol.
Fennekin is a Fire type canine pokemon that's very closely related to the Pokemon known as Ninetails. And although it looks like the fur in its ears would be an extreme hassle, it actually protects Fennekin's ears from bugs and debris. This is important because Fennekin relies on its hearing the most in order to locate prey. They also have fairly large brains and have been recorded as having slight psychic powers.
Chespin is a close relative of Bibarel and is a Grass type Pokemon. It has a supply of sharp spines on its back which is used for both offensive attacks and defence against predators. While traveling through foliage, leaves will sometimes get stuck on the spines. The Chespin will use these leaves for a wide variety of Grass- type attacks. They are primarily nocturnal Pokemon and prefer dark environments as their domain.
Froakie is a Water type and a close relative of the Poliwrath evolution line. Its body is nearly covered with small white spheres. These spheres are actually small air sacks that the Pokemon will inflate if it becomes agitated. Similar to Pelipper, it can store large amounts of water in its mouth. It also has a special pouch inside its body where it can store fresh water for later use. Froakie also appears to have a knack for hand-to-hand combat.
Xerneas is an extremely rare Pokemon sighted in the forests of the Kalos region. It has a magnificent set of antlers that are multicolored and vaguely see-through in some areas. Those who have gotten close enough to it have reported a glint in its eye that resembles the letter X. Xerneas is now known to be a pure Fairy type Pokemon and it knows a move called Geomancy.
Yveltal is a large bird Pokemon and like Xerneas, is rarely seen. Yveltal is reported to be nearly blind. Because of this, it relies mainly on its sense of smell and hearing to get around. Some say that it uses echolocation similar to members of the Swoobat and Crobat evolution lines in order to locate prey. It has razor-sharp talons on each foot and a menacing red and black design on its underbelly. When it spreads its wings and large tail, it resembles the shape of the letter Y. Yveltal is a Flying/Dark type Pokemon and knows a move called Oblivion Wing.
